Suicide is the third leading cause of death among 15-24 year olds and more than 8 million adults in the United States had serious thoughts of suicide within the past 12 months.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Major suicide warning signs<\/h2>\n<p>If someone you know is showing one or more of the following behaviors, he or she may be thinking about suicide. Don\u2019t ignore these warning signs.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Talking about wanting to committing suicide.<\/strong> The more he says he wants to die the more he means it. If you feel his talk of wanting to die is getting more frequent, get help now. \u00a0Do not leave him alone.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Researching suicide.<\/strong> There are online resources that suggest ways to kill yourself. Check to see if your loved one has been doing this type of research.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Talking about feeling hopeless or having no reason to live<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Talking about feeling trapped or in unbearable pain<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Talking about being a burden to others<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Increasing the use of alcohol or drugs<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Acting anxious or agitated; behaving recklessly<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Sleeping too little or too much<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Withdrawing or feeling isolated<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Showing rage or talking about seeking revenge<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Displaying extreme mood swings<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>FAQS on suicide:<\/h2>\n<p><strong>How many people die each year by suicide?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In\u00a02013, there were\u00a012.6 suicide deaths per 100,000 of population in the United States. Guns account for 51.4% of all suicide deaths. The next most common method is were suffocation, which includes hangings at 24.5%. During the cold months of winter, people go into a kind of semi-hibernation, so they work less, connect with\u00a0fewer people, and as a consequence experience\u00a0less frustration and diminished conflict. In the spring, work increased and the resulting\u00a0stress might \u2013 it is theorized \u2013\u00a0trigger suicidal thoughts and ultimately behavior. People working on\u00a0farms or in a factory\u00a0where there is\u00a0greater seasonal variation of work and contact with people appear to be the most suceptible.
